How to choose your Vibraphone?
Are you a professional and want to acquire a vibraphone of great sound quality? Like many vibraphonists, try the brand new Bergerault Signature vibraphone with deep bass notes and attenuated harmonics. Numerous videos of virtuoso vibraphonists are available on the Internet. In a classic jazz style, we recommend those of Renaud Detruit and Thomas Döbler. Bergerault Signature vibraphones are available with a gray or gold anodized blade finish. It is very difficult to advise you on one or the other finish. The sound color is slightly different. A matter of taste. To try. We are at your disposal from Monday 8:00 a.m. to Friday 6:00 p.m. in our Ligueil workshops.
Are you a student at the music conservatory and/or a percussionist in a band? You need a good quality vibraphone at a reasonable price. Our advice: the Bergerault Performer vibraphone during the promotional period!
What materials are used to make vibraphone blades?
All vibraphone keyboards are made from an aluminum alloy. The definition of the tone lies in the choice of the composition of the alloy.
What are the differences between study vibraphone and professional vibraphone?
Traditionally, the study vibraphone has blades of identical width across the entire range of the instrument. The professional vibraphone has blades of progressive width: the lower the notes, the wider the blades.
What is the difference between vibraphone and metallophone?
The primary principle of the vibraphone is to modulate the amplification of the resonance of the reeds using pallets located in each resonator and driven by a motor, thus creating the vibrato. Without vibrato, no vibraphone but a metallophone.
Can you tune a vibraphone?
A broken vibraphone is a vibraphone whose blades are broken or heavily oxidized. To tune it you have to change the blades. It also happens that we want to modify the pitch of the blades of a vibraphone. This modification is possible. A visit to the workshop is essential.
How to choose your vibraphone sticks?
The choice of vibraphone sticks is complex and depends above all on your sensitivity, your technique and the repertoire you want to play. The professional vibraphonist has several sets of sticks. Generally speaking, a soft vibraphone stick will bring out the root note of the blade. A hard vibraphone stick will bring out the overtones.
